IATA’s role in AIR FREIGHT:
IATA – International Air Transport Association – has been simplifying the use of documentation for air exports, by consolidating rates and transportation conditions.
The calculation basis for air freight’s price is obtained by means of the merchandise’s weight or volume, whichever of them gives rise to a greater value. In order to know if we must consider weight or volume, IATA has set up the following formula: IATA’s Formula (weight/volume): 1 kg = 6000 cm³ or 1 ton = 6 m³
